Finding a camp nurse can be difficult. ACN recognizes this and provides a link between camps looking for a nurse for nurses looking for a camp. Purchase a job ad on the ACN website and it’ll be posted for nurses to contact you. We also have nurses interested in jobs submit their information to ACN. When you purchase an ad you’ll have access to the information of those nurses seeking jobs, so you can contact them directly

NOTE: Nurses typically plan their summer in early winter because they must request time off from their regular job. Post your ad NOW to gain as much exposure as possible. The fee remains the same no matter how long it is posted.

All job ads are removed from the website in August of each year in preparation for camps to being posting for the next season.

Complete the job posting information and payment. The job will be posted within a week after the payment is processed. ACN retains editorial rights but will generally post ads as they are written – with one exception: The word “infirmary,”  will be changed to “Health Center.” If there is additional editing, ACN will contact the person who requested the posting.

ACN does not guarantee any responses from nurses nor does ACN endorse those who may respond to a given camp’s advertisement. The Association is merely providing a way for camps to communicate their need for a nurse – in this case, specifically to nurses who have expressed an interest or curiosity about camp and have clicked on the ACN site.

It remains the camp’s responsibility to appropriately screen those who respond to their advertisement. Note that nurses are directed to contact the camp, not ACN, if interested in applying to a particular camp.

Advertisements will be posted and remain on the site until the person who placed the advertisement asks ACN to discontinue the ad or until the end of August, when ads are removed allowing camps can begin posting for the next camp season.

Let us know if you have questions.  We hope to help create a venue where camps find an appropriate and effective healthcare provider for their organization. Best Wishes!

Nursing Compact States

Several US states participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement. This act allows nurses with a multistate license to practice physically, telephonically, or electronically in their home state and other original NLC states. The NLC allows nurses from other compact states to practice in your compact state (if applicable).  Take a look at the NLC map to see if your state is part of the agreement.

As of January 19, 2018, the 21 states in the original Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) that enacted the new Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) will cease to be members of the original NLC.

This means that beginning January 19, 2018, a nurse with a license from Wisconsin, Colorado, New Mexico, and Rhode Island will hold a multistate license valid in only those four states rather than the original 25 states. These nurses will need to obtain additional licensure in order to practice in any of the new eNLC states. More details on the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website.
